Pressure Won't Affect Me, Says Bullish Postecoglou

Nottingham Forest head coach Ange Postecoglou insists that any pressure regarding his position will not influence his methodology.

The team remains without a victory in his initial half-dozen matches since the Australian took over from Nuno Espirito Santo at the club's stadium.

A group of Forest fans chanted, "you'll be dismissed in the morning", at the ex- Tottenham and Celtic boss following the recent 3-2 Europa League defeat at home to Midtjylland.

The Manager's Reaction to Criticism

Postecoglou, though, mentioned that the Europa League trophy he secured at Tottenham the previous campaign, prior to being sacked in the summer, was evidence he does not allow external factors to affect his management.

"I don't think about it," he continued. "My duty lies in ensuring this football club advances and reaches a level where it can compete for things," said Postecoglou.

"If I start putting timelines to that or stress over what is occurring next week then I am not fulfilling the role I have been assigned.

"I believe it is helpful to anybody. Ultimately, I have to concentrate on the environment, the practice sessions, the way we play, and as I mentioned recently, I am remain very, very strong in my belief that we are not too far away.

"Put it this way - I was aware I was being dismissed at Tottenham about 3-4 months before I was, but that didn't stop me from winning something."

Career History

The 60-year-old moved to Spurs from Celtic in the previous year and supporters at first warmed to the Australian for his offensive style of play, with the London club ending up fifth in the Premier League during his first season.

Postecoglou's following season was challenging as Spurs ended 17th in the table. He nevertheless, lead the club to their initial silverware in nearly two decades as they defeated Manchester United in the European final.
